On a recent visit to Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia I discovered a great new center opening. It is called the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (opening June 16th 2007). Considering the fact that all seven species of sea turtles are in danger of extinction – this new center caught my attention. The GSTC mission and goals are 1) REHABILITATION of ill and injured sea turtles, 2) RESEARCH on the health of individual turtles, local and global sea turtle populations and other turtles, terrapins and tortoises, and 3) EDUCATION about marine eco-system to empower individuals, business and government agencies to protect the coastal habitat.
In honor of that visit as well as my scuba diving experience and many one on one encounters with these amazing creatures - I will be donating $5.00 from every sale of this onesie to this facility.
