We're Back! Sort of!! :*)

We'll I've been out of the loop forever. I sincerely apologize for not even having the time to keep my blog updated. I'll do a quick synopsis of the last 9 months of my life.

I had my son Jan. 3rd.. super cute, healthy, and the sweetest little guy you'll ever meet!

March I took the kids home (WA state) for a visit with all the grandparents and family.

Mid March - hurt my back - had to have a micro disectamy on my lower spine.. yikes! Wasn't fun, although quite the blessing that it happened in WA where I had all my family to help with my kids. This turned my 3 week trip to WA state into a 3 Month stay while I healed.

Late June returned home to Florida... and slowly tried to get into a routine by myself with the kids. I flew my brother back with me to help for 2 weeks and ended up putting him to work painting the kids rooms and helping me decorate them. I hadn't even had my son's room together yet.

August... my oldest daughter celebrated her 4th birthday and started pre-school... Tears... and Tears of Joy. Scary and fun all at the same time. She's so ready for the stimulation... mommy just wasn't quite ready to let my first baby start the never ending path of school days and letting go. She's doing fantastic by the way!!

That leads me to now! I'm slowly getting time to work on my shop. Although it's been really hard now that I've given up my craft room to my son. I now share the playroom as my craft room. This makes it super challenging especially now that I have a son crawling who likes to stick everything in his mouth! Yikes! So I've decided to focus on smaller runs, completely hand-sewn items. I am really enjoying this now since I can focus on the best part of having my own shop which is creating what I love and focusing on the details.

I just listed some of my latest projects. Some hair bow holders - for all that couture hair candy you buy. I've also made some felt puppets and some hand embroidered artwork. Here are a few pics above.

Thanks for all the kind and loving words. My customers never cease to amaze me. I truly am blessed with the best customers.

That's right. It's time to celebrate the Holidays as well as prepare for the birth of my son. I'm in my 9th month of pregnancy and counting down the moments till his arrival - wish me luck!! I will eventually re-open once things normalize around our house.

Playroom

So I have to share with you all my latest creative project. I finally sacrificed my unused dining room to make the coolest playroom for my daughter and soon to be son. I really tried to not girlie it up too bad - which is so hard for me to do. I'm so into girly things, but I'll let you be the judge.

I got super lucky with a huge discount at Pottery barn for their Cameron playroom storage. I got their floor models at 50% off. I really just got lucky - I had been wanting these forever, but honestly couldn't bring myself to spend the money. Then one day I finally decided, I'm just going to save up the money for these. So I went in and struck up a conversation with the sales clerk (she may have been the manager) and was trying to figure out exactly what I wanted and how much I would need to save up. She then says "I'll tell ya what, I just got an email that we need to re-merchandise the store and I can sell you these floor models for 50% off". I screamed I'll take them! You never see them marked down that low and I couldn't believe my ears. It was exactly what I had been looking out - color and everything!! So that started off the playroom makeover.

Then.... I started thinking I really need to get a play tent for my daughter. Everyday my poor couch was getting torn apart as she created her next fort out of cushions and blankets.
After getting really tired (partly because I'm pregnant) of putting the cushions on the couch every time I wanted to sit down and relax I finally went on the search for the perfect play tent. There are so many cute ones out there. Pottery barn has an awesome play tent that hangs from the ceiling. I also found these super cute cloth play tents that a lady made which were even more spectacular. But, after coming down to reality and realizing I couldn't spend $100 - $350.00 on a play tent I figured I could just make one! I have tons of fabric laying around from my shop so I used the scraps I had to piece together what I think is a super cute tent - plus it matches the decor. I even added these really cute Christmas lights that have tin covered star shaped cutouts around each light so it casts a star like glow inside the tent.

I already had the play table which I bought a long while ago from Land of Nod - Another store I absolutely LOVE!!! So the last thing I needed was some floor cushions. Another search ensued and again - I thought, hey I can just make some of these. I already had some large pillow forms I had bought a while back for a project that never came to be and again I raided my fabric stash to come up with some monogrammed pillows. I monogrammed an "E" for my daughter Eeva and a "K" for my soon to be son Kalevi. I think these turned out super cute.

I'm still searching for that perfect rug to tie it all together... but haven't had much luck. I always have the hardest time committing to rugs for some reason.

Anyways... I'm so proud of my little project and best of all now I can contain all her toys in one room - this has been so nice!! I'm not tripping over toys in every room of the house now. YEAH!

Couture Hair Candy Collection

I am so excited to introduce my latest collection. I call it my Couture Hair Candy line. Every little peice handcut, handsewn by myself. I've included sparkly touches such as sequence and glass beads. I hope you can appreciate the details in these pictures. I think they look so much cuter in person, and I really tried to take the best pictures I could. Argh... but I'm no photographer and I do get easily frustrated.

Anyways... if you feel like you haven't heard from me in a while it's probably because it's true! I've been a little out of the game lately due to my recent pregnancy, but now well into the 2nd trimester I felt my energy spike and my nesting instinct has kicked right in. This new line is the result of all those nesting instincts. I hope you love how they turned out as much as I have enjoyed working on them. Thanks again to all my supporters out there. I now have 135 blogger subscribers which personally I feel is quite the accomplishment considering my little place in this world. I'm so blessed to have all that love out there. Here's to you! Our newest addition to our shop entitled "Fawn over me". This sweet collection features our original artwork in beautiful shades of teal, raspberry and lime. Have you ever wondered when someone walks past your baby and doesn't "ooh... and ahh"? Well... this collection is sure to grab their attention and say "HEY YOU, fawn over me!" Our image of our little fawn and references to "baby Deer (Dear)" and "Doe a Deer" add to the whimsical feel of this layette. PLUS... we are adding coordinating baby slippers to match. That's right - Lemons and Lollis is now Open!

Yeah... phew! It's been a while huh? I am so happy to say we are settled in our new home - and loving it here in the beautiful state of Florida! I am pleased to say I have re-opened my shop; however, you will notice it is on a much more limited scale. Due to time constraints in my personal life, I don't think I'll be able to offer as many products as before. I am pre-sewing everything now so I am currently scalling back on the baby clothes. This won't be forever, I promise.. but will be for a while. I am working on some new toddler clothes and hope to get those in my shop in the next month or two. In the meantime, I have a sale on some of my winter collection and just introduced my brooke dress/top. These are all sewn and ready for immediate shipment. NEW Eeva Dress

I call this eeva dress "finlandia" it just has that swedish/finland style print. Large geometric in fun shades of pink, raspberry, brick and various shades of green. It reverses to a beautiful filigree print in a brick color. This particular eeva dress is priced a little higher than normal due to the high quality cotton. I typically use a high quality quilters cotton for my dresses and this cotton even out performs that! It is a superior grade cotton - you have to feel it to appreciate it. This is unlike anything you will find in childrens clothing today. I absolutely love it! I am constantly striving to bring my customers the highest quality childrens clothing that is modern and unique. This dress is no exception. These sell out super fast (my cherry bomb eeva dress I just listed 3 weeks ago is already sold out)... So you were warned! :*)

A lot of you may remember this fabric print from some of my prior lines. It was so super popular and one of my personal favorites. So I was so bummed when I tried to re-order it from the manufacturer only to find out they discontinued it. So how did I get it? We'll I am always checking out various fabric stores (imagine that), and happened across an obscure fabric shop in North Carolina. I found a few yards left of this moda fabric and scooped it up immediately. Knowing, it is sold out EVERYWHERE!! Trust me I looked and looked! Anyways... so here it is... long story short introducing my "Daisy Chain" line. Enjoy!

I have to share a shopping blog that I am totally addicted to. I only became privy to it when I had some of my products featured on this blog. Once I saw it, I was totally hooked!! Vinyl Critters!

I guess you could say my daughter is becoming quite spoiled. Now, that I am adding all these new products to my shop I always make sure to set one aside for her. Not only to have my built in product tester, but often when a new shipment arrives she immediately thinks it's something for her. So needless to say both of us were screaming with joy when the shipment of vinyl critters showed up! I have to give Stephanie (the creator and artists) a huge shout - out! I am so in love with these critters I honestly stole my daughters from her. Maybe it's the vinyl - it's so flexible and soft - I was pretty surprised by this fact. Or... it could be the smell of the vinyl; maybe it reminded me of my dad's old el Camino. If you are reading this and saying to your self "what the heck is an el Camino" you are seriously going to make me feel old - so just play along!
Anyways, back to my product tester - a.k.a. my daughter. She immediately grabs the pink giraffe (which she has now adopted as her own)... and made him walk across the floor. She then started making this elephant noise (I'm still am not sure if she knows the difference between a giraffe and an elephant - or it could be that mommy can't quite distinguish the noises either). It was so darn cute I went to grab my camera. Unfortunately my batteries were dead and I missed that Kodak moment. Long story short I am screaming with joy to share these vinyl critters with you. Grand Re-Opening!

I am so excited to be back open! It has been a busy month for me finalizing our fall collection and building our new and improved website. I would love to hear feedback - I'm not a website designer by any means so this was a big undertaking for me! I learned a lot though and I am so glad I ventured down that path.

Before I highlight some items in my fall collection I want to send much thanks to all the wonderful comments and support I have received from so many of my customers! You guys rock!

So we have a ton of new stuff... but I wanted to highlight a few special items here. These are all limited editions. Only one is available in each size in each color combo - so if you see something you like I suggest you buy it now. Once they are sold, no more will be made. I hope you like them as much as I do - these were by far the most fun I had sewing my fall collection.

I also made this sweet tote for my daughter who just celebrated her second birthday. It turned out so cute, I decided to make 3 more to sell in my shop. Once these are sold - no more will be made.

Finally, I have made the decision to expand my website and start carrying some fabulous Handmade Items from other wonderful designers. I am choosing items that I had bought for my daughter, that I feel are unique, well made, and stand the torture of a 2 year old! Here is the latest addition - but I have a lot more coming!

New Graphic T-shirts!

I expect to be completed with all my big orders by Monday. Yeah!!! I have already been focusing on my new fall collection and can't wait to get it in my shop. I hate to say though that it won't be until September! I have a vacation/family reunion coming up in about two weeks and will be taking this time to catch up on some housework, organize my studio, and make lots of cool stuff for my fall collection. I do have a fabulous announcement though!!!

I started doing some graphic t-shirt designing. I honestly have so many ideas that flow through my head and never enough time to bring them to life via my current medium of applique; so this will be a fabulous outlet. You can currently purchase my graphic t-shirts through my second Lemons and Lollis shop; however, I will be adding these to my main shop by September. I have a lot more designs to come so please check back often!

Custom Quilt

So I am still playing catch up with my orders... thankfully I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!!! I hope to be posting new items in my shop in about two weeks - I HOPE!!! Anyways.. I have to share my latest order which was a custom quilt. One of my repeat customers - who has been so utterly patient with me - thank you - you know who you are - ordered this custom quilt. I can't be given all the credit because she picked out all the fabrics... but honestly - who doesn't love Amy Butler!!! Every time I do a quilt out of her fabric it will instantly become my favorite! We will temporarily be closing our doors to new orders. Thanks to all our wonderful customers we are swamped with orders and want to devote our time and attention to processing these.

I was so excited to get these out there, but haven't had time - so once we are caught up we will be developing some great new toddler boy clothing -as well as adding to our "eeva Dress" collection.

I am happy to say my new "Eeva Dress" has been a big hit. I started this collection in the designer fabrics from Joel Dewberry. He just hit the scene and his fabrics are incredible. Amy Butler has been a favorite fabric designer for years now. I have personally made a few quilts from her fabrics alone. Her stuff is modern and eclectic with a bit of traditional. I LOVE IT!!! She just released a new line called "nigella". It is absolutely stunning!! I will be adding to my "eeva dress" line with three more dresses from Amy Butler fabrics. Two dresses will feature her new "nigella" line and a third from her classic "belle" collection. Unfortunately some of these fabrics are on back order - so it is hard to say when these will be available in my shop. If you would like to be notified when the dresses are available for sale. So... I tried something I never did before and actually sent an email to the fabric designer with links to my creations. I honestly figured I wouldn't get a response - especially considering this guy just released the most beautiful line and I figured he would have emails coming out the wazoo!! To my surprise I got the sweetest email back from JOEL DEWBERRY and it was within 24 hours of me sending my email!! WOW... I was so excited I had to share it here. Here is what he said:

Corina,I was delighted to see your recent creations! To be honest, I came across your EEVAA dress on my own yesterday prior to your email. I try to make a habit of going online, a couple of times a week, to research what is happening with my fabric. Toddler Dresses!!! YIPEE!

I have been "chomping' at the bit" (who says that anyways)... to make toddler dresses - partly because my little sweet pea can't wear my creations anymore - she is growing like a weed!!! Plus.. I wanted to create lines that wouldn't leave big sis out. My goal is to have a baby collection and a coordinating toddler girl collection. That way when the new baby is born - big sis can get a little surprise too!!!

When I came across Joel Dewberry's new collection - I knew this was it! I am so pleased with how this dress turned out. It's simple and classic design will make it timeless. It is extremely well constructed with surged seams that are completely encased in the dress - making it a great hand-me-down dress lasting lifetimes. It is reversible giving you two designer looks in one. Plus it is roomy enough you can layer it over a simple white t-shirt and jeans as the seasons begin to change giving your little girl that bohemian chic look! Finally, the cherry on top, I will use it as a cover-up. My daughters latest trick is dribbling her drink down her chin and onto whatever clothes she happens to be wearing. So... I'll keep one in my bag and when we are out shopping and we need a quick wardrobe change - I can throw it over her clothes and we are off!!!

My daughter loves the monkeys at the zoo! They are by far her most favorite animal and she can watch them for minutes! Which considering she is almost 2 - that is a LONG attention span! We moved from San Antonio about 6 months ago to Savannah. San Antonio had the best zoo - we had an annual pass and only lived about 25 minutes from the zoo. So trips were weekly! Unfortunately their is no zoo in Savannah and the closest zoo is Jacksonville, Florida - about a 2 hour drive from our house. So needless to say we are missing the monkeys!!! We don't get down to Jacksonville as often as our trips in Savannah - so I decided to bring the monkeys to us! Presenting our "Goin' Banana's" Collection!! I say this all the time - but everytime I make a new creation - I SWEAR it is my favorite... and this one is no exception. I call it my WILD CHILD. Which would have been perfect for my little baby girl - as she was just that. Keeping her Daddy and I up till all hours of the night. Her days and nights were mixed up for what seemed to be an eternity! Thankfully mommy won the battle (still fighting the war) and she sleeps through the night! My husband is already asking for baby number 2 - how quickly he forgets - eh? Personally I don't think I am ready for all those sleepless nights again! They are still fresh in my memory! On a recent visit to Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia I discovered a great new center opening. It is called the Georgia Sea Turtle Center (opening June 16th 2007). Considering the fact that all seven species of sea turtles are in danger of extinction – this new center caught my attention. The GSTC mission and goals are 1) REHABILITATION of ill and injured sea turtles, 2) RESEARCH on the health of individual turtles, local and global sea turtle populations and other turtles, terrapins and tortoises, and 3) EDUCATION about marine eco-system to empower individuals, business and government agencies to protect the coastal habitat.

In honor of that visit as well as my scuba diving experience and many one on one encounters with these amazing creatures - I will be donating $5.00 from every sale of this onesie to this facility. I LOVE my NEW sewing machine... We'll it's really my Grandma's sewing machine. You know the one she sewed all my quilts, sleeping bags and dresses on. This machine is the BOMB! It is a viking and comes with these Cams - I hope I spelled that right! Anyways... you can choose all these designer stitches... I absolutely love the sweet little scallops, but I am sure I will find uses for all the other stitches. This is my latest creation - fully utilizing the cute stitches I can do with my new machine - Grandma would be proud!

WOW.... WOW.... - can I say WOW??? I made it on the front page of ETSY for the first time! Not only that but two of my items were in the treasury listing! The sad part is - I totally missed it. I have been working on my blog - well more like "tearing my hair out" over my blog over the last two days. I know it doesn't show it, but learning html code isn't as easy as it may appear. Baby Blocks - Keepsake

I absolutely adore my latest creation. These are such a unique addition to a nursery or playroom. Made from beautiful fabrics from Amy Butlers Lotus Collection. Each side of the block is a mini quilt. I literally quilted each peice before peicing the entire block together. If you look closely on the pictures you can see the detail work. This set is for A B C and coincides beautifully with my Amy Butler Modern quilt. Hang that little quilt in a nursery and add these blocks on a cute shelf and you have the custom nursery unlike any others.

PLUS... what baby wouldn't want to look at these hip, modern shapes and colors. Teach them colors and the ABC's in style!

In reading forums on Etsy there was a post from a lady named Shannon who is the Conference Chairperson for the Alabama Assocation of the Deaf. She was looking for donations for their silent auction this coming June. Here is more info regarding it. I was so excited to help out and do my little part to help this community. I sent her a little something for the silent auction and hope my small donation will help.In June, 2007, the Alabama Association of the Deaf (AAD) will host its Biennial Conference in Birmingham. The Association provides workshops for both hearing and deaf individuals with the focus of enhancing their knowledge and skills so the deaf and hard of hearing may function more easily within the hearing community. Since its organization in 1912, AAD has helped the deaf community grow and become a strong voice in the state of Alabama.At this conference, we will be hosting a silent auction as a fundraiser in order to continue giving back to the community. We would be honored if you or your company would consider donating an item for the silent auction.

I 'Heart' Mom Onesie size 9-12 months

I know this is early for Mothers Day – but honestly I think Mom’s need to be honored every day of the year. At least that is my attitude now that I am a mom. Once my daughter was born I think I had a whole new appreciation for my mom. I tell her that all the time… and am still amazed at the sacrifices she made for me and my siblings. In honor of that and upcoming Mothers Day - meet my new creation…. The “I ‘heart’ Mom” collection. It is a new twist on the typical tattoos you see men sporting. A cute heart appliqué composed of Amy Butler fabrics from her lotus collection (one of my favorites) with a tag sewn into the heart made from midori silk ribbon with the tidings “Mom” written on the ribbon…. If it couldn’t get any cuter- I even added a modified ruffled bottom to the onesie by sewing strips of coordinating fabric in a folded pattern. These will fray at the edges adding to that custom boutique feel.

Lemons and Lollis presents the Baby Birdie Line. This is the cutest onesie ever! This unique one of a kind design was created from Amy Butler Quilting Fabrics. The beak is made from a pink felt, the main body of the bird is in a cute pink, green, cream and rosy brown stripe with a coordinating print for the feathered wing. The eye of the birdie is a pearlescent white flower sequence hand sewn for durability. The appliqué is both pressed onto the onesie using wonder under (a type of fabric glue) plus it has stitching around the edges. Some fraying will occur after washing, but this just adds to the relaxed feel of our baby birdie. Your little baby will look so cute coming and going (as most of them are crawling around this age) so the back has an additional heart appliqué also in a coordinating print from Amy Butlers Lotus line with a cute tag in a silk ribbon. Tag is printed with the word “bebe”. Could it get any cuter??? SURFS UP! This is one of my favorites in my collection and I hate to say one of my few boyish items. Maybe because I have a baby girl... that boyish side of my brain just doesn't work as well. I absolutely love this set. Set includes bib, burp cloth and onesie all handmade by me. Burp cloth includes applique that states "Rick, The Beachcomber, Honolulu, HI". While the bib includes hula girls, tiki lounge signs and surfboards... totally gnarly dude! Bib and burp cloth are backed in a very absorbent terry cloth. Onesie is made from 100% combed cotton (very soft) with finished sleeves. This is a nice onesie (not those flimsy see through ones). Coordinating onesie comes with the set and is also appliqued with a print depicting a sign stating "Blue Hawaiian Hotel".

WANTED: A home for Penelope the Elephant!
She was created using new and vintage fabrics collected from my grandmothers quilt stash. I had made a keepsake quilt for my daughter and had a few scraps left over. Instead of letting them go to waste I decided to create some bibs, burp cloths, and Penelope the Elephant applique. She turned out so cute. I have already sold one and only one remains...
